기숙학교는 왜 "boarding school"이지?

"Board"의 어원은 '큰 판'이다. 여기서 식사도 하고, 회의도 하고, 아무튼 사람 모여서 할 수 있는 건 다하는 곳까지 의미가 확장되면서 '기숙 학교', '회의' 등이 될 수 있는 것이다.
