Accent reduction

1. Your accent is not a problem.
   • 물론 말투도 중요하지만 가장 중요한 건 음과 박자다.
2. Copy the rhythm ("Hear the music")
   • English is a beat-driven language.
   • 원어민의 soul 까지 copy 해야 된다!
3. We speak in "sound unit"
   • We (American) do not speak one word at a time.
   • 영단어 소리의 최소 단위 : letter
      > 음의 최소 단위를 letter로 보기 때문에 이를 합쳐 소리를 낸다는 뜻에서 음합 (音合, sound unit)
       e.g. linking & chunking
   • Training the organ.

 

Practice) I want to go to school.

• Articulate : I^want^to^go^to^school.
• Linking: I wannu godu school

Opinion is placed before Fact

• Opinion : Fact = Subject : Object
  • ex) "Snow White (백설공주)" - Snow 는 '눈처럼 하얗다'의 비유(= opinion!)를 위해 사용된 것이다.

 

• 영어 이름 순서는 왜 "이름 성"일까?
  • ex) David Bowee : 작은 거(자기 이름)에서 큰 거(가족 이름)으로 확장한다. (= zoom out)
